
Meet Mark
Mark Bitz is a retired teacher and engineer seeking to continue his service to Central Valley School District families as a school board member. Mark taught full time at Spokane Valley Tech for ten years before retiring in 2023. Before teaching, Mark was an engineer, product marketing manager and longtime Central Valley School District volunteer.
As a CVSD school board member, Mark will work to foster positive, collaborative relationships between the school board, district administrators, school staff, students and the community. Mark will help the school board focus its resources within its areas of responsibility to ensure district resources and taxpayer money are used effectively.
Mark is certified in K-12 and Career Technical Education. He holds a Masters in Teaching degree from Whitworth University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University and a Career Tech Education Certification from Eastern Washington University.
Mark has been recognized for excellence with numerous awards for his work in education including the CVSD Teacher of the Year in 2023, four nominations for the CVSD Meritorious Service award, ARC Educator in 2016 and Golden Acorn Volunteer Awards in 1995 and 1999.
Mark understands people do not always agree on issues. He uses collaboration and negotiation to help organizations meet their goals. As a marketing professional/engineer, Mark is practical in his approach to problem solving and administration. As a professional educator, Mark is dedicated to helping each student be successful. He understands the role teachers, parents, administrators, and local businesses play in student outcomes. Mark values the opportunity to serve students, families, school staff and our community. His goal for the district is to help students become capable, successful and confident citizens.
